Fiber and Bead Boutique is a 3 generation family business. As a family we have been making things for a long time. Bonnie has been enthralled with the fiber arts for most of her life. She was taught to sew and to crochet at a very early age by her grandmother. Since then, she has added spinning, knitting, dyeing, and weaving to her repertoire.
Husband Fred has been weaving for close to 15 years. He learned to weave to help Bonnie as she was beginning her adventures with weaving, and liked it so much that he took over the 8 harness loom. So of course we have added three 4-harness looms, a rigid heddle loom and an inkle loom.
Daughter Jen has been crocheting and knitting for years, but her true love is beading. She has been beading for over 10 years and loves the endless possibilities that beadwork allows. She began experimenting with polymer clay and making her own beads about 7 years ago and loves the experimentation with color that polymer clay allows. In the last year or so, Jen began experimenting with fused glass and making her own fused glass pendants, allowing her to combine her love of clay and color in endless new combinations!
Granddaughter Emma is the youngest member of the team. She has been beading seriously now for over 6 years. She outsold her mother and her grandparents at her first craft show. We’re not sure where she will end up using her talents, but she continues to experiment with as many art forms as she can find time for! She makes her own polymer clay beads and experimenting with Mom, Jen on making fused glass pendants. She also joins Grandmother Bonnie in painting silk scarves as well. Felted and mixed media artwork have been added to her repertoire. She graduated from the Visual Arts Program at the George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology, with a focus on Digital Film Making. She is a junior at Towson State University.
